Hey guys, one of my absolute fav anime is
neon genesis evangelion. This anime has stayed in the top 5 most watched and
bought animes ever since it was made. The story follows a boy named shinji
ikari. The year is 2015 and instead of flying cars, the world is in peril.
Shinji is called to Tokyo where his father works. Only to get the largest
suprise of his life. Nearly being crushed by a huge creature. The creature is
called an angel, but instead of bringing peace, it brings terror. Shinji is
finally found by a woman named Misato Katsuragi, a woman who works for shinji’s
dad, shinji soon relises that he’ll be working for his dad, but what work does
he do? Shinji learns that, that angel was not the first and it won’t be the
last and the only thing that can stop it is a large bio-mecha being known as an
evangelion, or EVA, for short. Shinji is chosen to be the pilot of EVA Unit 01.
The plot of neon genesis evangelion, twists and turns. Shinji learns that his
mother was the first test pilot for the EVAs and she lost her life and that her
soul rests in EVA unit 01. Shinji also meets the pilots of EVA units 00 and 02,
Rei Ayanami and Auska Langly Soryu. The anime has 26 eps, a movie, a look back
movie that looks at the series and then there is a digetly remasted and new
story only for DVD called the rebuild of evangelion series which will consist
of 4 DVDs and the 1^st is already out. This anime is fantastic and
literally pushed the boundries of anime to the limits, it opened a new
generation for anime and never in anime’s history has any other anime hit the
same level as this one.

unit 00 is the prototype, unit 01 was the test type but units 02 and onwards were the actual full EVAs

The main enemy in the series is the angels,
there are 17 angels in total with a twist of an 18^th angel during
the movie. The angels follow the line and have the name as the same angels in
the Hebrew bible. This first angel is Adam. Also known as the giant of light,
this angel was found in the Antarctic, when humans tried to interact with it,
it exploded and cause what was known as the 2^nd impact. Adam was
seen as the creator of the angels

The 2^nd angel was known as
Lilith, Lilith was found under Tokyo and instead of self destructing, the
humans restrained Lilith before it had a chance to. Lilith is now under NERV
(where shinji’s dad works) HQ, nailed to a cross with a spear through its
chest, this has a huge impact on the religious side of the anime (it has a lot
of hidden religious meanings) because the spear’s name is called “the lance of
longinus, Longinus was the name of the roman soldier that pierced Jesus’ side
with a spear. Lilith is said to be the creator of all humans

The third angel (which is the angel that
nearly step on shinji in the first ep) was the first angel to actually be seen.
The angel’s name is Sachiel or “the angel of water” Sachiel attacks out of
nowhere and shinji must learn how to control the EVA, before he can defeat the
angel, or does he? During the fight, Sachiel uses the lance in its arm to slice
a hole through the EVA’s head, this makes the EVA turn what’s known as
“Burserker” where the pilot loses all control of the EVA and the Eva itself goes
berserk and destroys the nearby angel, before unit 01 kills Sachiel, Sachiel
selfdestructs, leaving the EVA and shinji perfectly safe. Besides the lance in
its hand/arm, Sachiel can also make explosions happen at will, the explosion
makes a cross, adding to the religious theme.

The next angel to appear was Shamshel, or
“the angel of air” basicly, this angel looks like a flying shrimp with electric
whips coming out of its head, shinji manages to defeat it with just 1 minute of
engery powering unit 01

I prefer the anime, more angels appear , how far are you in? have you seen the angel that auska and shinji take down in 1 min and 35 seconds if I remember correctly

The next angel to appear was Ramiel, or “the
angel of thunder”. Ramiel is just a giant blue diamond, no matter how you look
at it, Ramiel plans to attack NERV HQ directly by drilling a huge hole down
through the ground and firing a beam to destroy it. It take the combined
efforts of EVA units 00 an 01 to destroy ramiel
