Pita Sharples was organising a "Maori's are not dumb" convention. He got 40 000 Maori to pile into Westpac Stadium, there were TV reporters, newspaper journalists. Just huge media coverage.

Pita is on a stage and says into a microphone: "Who wants to come up here and prove MAORI ARE NOT DUMB!!!!!"

Hone Harawira strolls up onto stage. Pita says "Hone, what is 32+11?" Hone thinks for about 5 seconds and then says "17?"

Pita looks disenheartened, but the Maori crowd starts chanting "GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE, GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE." So Pita agrees and says, "all right Hone, what is 10+10?" Hone thinks for about 20seconds before saying "23?" Pita looks rather angry, but the Maori crowd starts chanting "GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE, GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE."

This time Pita is wondering if he is doing more harm than good, but agrees and says "Fine Hone, what is 4 + 4?"

Hone thinks for about a minute before saying gingerly "8?"

Suddenly the Maori crowd start stamping their feet at yelling "GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE...."
